Cloverdiles are a CLOSED SPECIES, unlike most on Shantyland. However, you can purchase MYO (make your own) tickets to gain access to creating (or commissioning) your very own dile!

Making your Dile:
Submitting your design- You MUST get your design approved before posting publicly. Please contact me (Colonel+links) with the final design OR WIPS if you have questions along the way!
Read over/familiarize yourself with the species sheet before starting your Cloverdile! This is a very versatile species and I want people to feel like they can be creative, as long as it’s still obviously a cloverdile. Creatures of Shantyland are genetically influenced by their environment so thinking about where they might live/what things they interact with can help! Sometimes random dile ideas are actually the catalyst for new things on Shantyland too!! Brainstorming sessions are always available via DM or the Shantyland discord server!
Existing Diles can be viewed in the MASTERLIST!! You can see what sort of things have worked for others here! Feel free to use the MYO lines (given up MYO slot purchase) to start or fully complete your design!
BODY SHAPE: The head and body shape don’t play a role in rarity unless it is wildly different from the norm, and such mutations haven’t been explored and would need to be considered via DMs!
FUNGAL AND MOSS GROWTH: This is a common element among ‘diles and can be added to any design. Algae is also a common feature that might be growing along their rhizinous fur.
When adding mushrooms to your dile: Until i can gather up a list of viable shrooms, feel free to use generic ones! BUT remember, this is an alien planet!! Feel free to spice up that mushroom or add a little flare!

THE CANOPY
NOTE: The canopy is used for MANY things, but very importantly, it's used to help keep the sun out of a cloverdile's very sensitive eyes. Without a canopy they will go into hiding until it grows back.
|
The canopy shape and function is usually determined by the location of that cloverdile. (i.e. a dile that spends more time on land might have a hardier or more shapely canopy for moving between trees)
The canopy is a plant-like (or fungal growth) that aids the cloverdile in life. The canopy naturally will shed and regrow at least once a year, and can regrow and heal if damaged. Cloverdiles should ALWAYS have a canopy. Instances of cloverdiles being born entirely without a canopy are basically unheard of, and damage to the skull/ head tissue via blunt force or bacteria/viruses can result in deformed or dead canopies, but otherwise they will grow back. A collection of rare canopies! These are often sought after by illegal alien traders, and although the loss of the canopy itself doesn't kill the 'dile, they can often be harmed in the process of harvesting them. |
Some Cloverdiles sport a mushroom-like canopy, rather than the plant/lilypad-like one that is most commonly noted in the species. The Shanty Ranger science department is currently debating on whether the fungal canopy would make them a separate species or not. These fungal canopies are generally only found very deep inland and aren’t subject to doing as much swimming as an average ‘dile.
MUSHROOM CANOPIES: are uncommon to rare traits. These canopies are a result of the environment the Cloverdile lives in and can still come in many shapes and colors.

Cloverdile Design Notes
Like groll frogs, another species of Shantyland, cloverdiles have a pretty infinite range of design options. Colors and canopies can vary immensely! Try to make sure the design makes sense for where you imagine the character might live… the gloomy Badlands where the water runs stale and not as much grows? Or the colorful and vibrant Pleasant swamps where they might encounter more people and thus be a little more friendly. Plenty of terrain on Shantyland could influence the style of your Cloverdile! The designs themselves should be natural in theme, even if the colors can range out beyond neutral tones. And on the flip side, PURE WHITE or piebaldism is a rare trait in Cloverdiles!!!
I generally say... go nuts!! Chase the idea in your head and what you really want! If it's too far off from an acceptable dile, it can be toned down from there.
If you’re unsure about colors or a design idea, feel free to reach out to me on Discord or wherever you have access to my dms!

Cloverdiles are a species very near and dear to my heart, and an integral part of the Shantyland Ecosystem!!! They are a closed species and are available via MYO slots or purchase of custom designs (custom availability is posted on patreon or the discord channel) or premade sales. Please be respectful of that, and of designs that already exist!!
